Tax Raids at Andhra Pradesh TDP Lawmaker’s Homes and Offices
Tax raids were continued overnight at TDP leader CM Ramesh’s residence and offices. The Rajya Sabha parliamentarian in Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's party said that the raids were a "political vendetta". IT officers conducted a raid at his business premises at Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, Amaravathi, Kadapa and also at Rithwik Projects, Which is Ramesh’s company.
The raids started on Friday at various locations including the house of Ramesh’s relative. The company “Rithwik Industries” is said to have a turnover close to Rs. 1000 crore. CM Ramesh described the raids as political vendetta and said that Prime Minister already warned them right inside the parliament about the consequences. The IT raids are the result of that warning, Ramesh explained.
The TDP also criticized the raids saying that it is an attack of Andhra people and the Modi government has showing harmful attitude for demanding to fulfill all the promises made for AP, said N. Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh’s IT minister.
Before ten days, IT officers raided different places in Andhra Pradesh. CM Ramesh who is a Rajya Sabha lawmaker declared that he had paid tax for his income of Rs 200 crore in the last four years. Also, he said that he will not be cowed down by this kind of attacks. Before this year, the TDP has broken away from the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). CM Ramesh is one among the protestors who demanded for Special status for AP.
