Metal, IT Stocks Gain In Early Trade, Market Opens In Green
Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty opened with gains on Monday, 15 April, with metal and IT scrip’s leading the charts in morning trade.
IT major TCS was up more than 2 percent in the early hours. On Friday, reported a 17.70 percent year-on-year (YOY) jump in March quarter profit at Rs 8,126 crore. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty too opened with modest gains and was hovering around the 11,650-mark in early trading.
Among sectoral indices, Nifty Metal was gaining more than a percent.
30-share BSE Sensex opened at 38,805.54 and soon extended gains to more than 100 points. At 9:40 am, the index was up 24 points and testing 38,800-levels.
Tata Motors, Coal India and HCL were among the other top gainers while Infosys, Bharti Airtel, and Sun Pharma were losing.
All in all the Monday morning seemed like a good opening of the stock market for a day as well as it might be a good opening for the whole week. Nifty metals and TCS which is an IT major had a hovering gain of more than one to two percentages.
