Jaanu's Distributors Facing A Huge Loss!
Dil Raju’s wrong decision has put Jaanu distributors at loss. Recreating magic is not that simple, especially, when the audience is connected to it emotionally. The Tamil film ‘96’ grabbed the hearts of the youth and made them feel emotional, taking them back to their school days. The performances of Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Khanna cannot be easily forgotten by the Tamilians and Telugus.
Dil Raju bought the Telugu remake rights of 96 and made the film ‘Jaanu’, hoping that people will love it just like they loved 96. He roped in a great cast and crew to recreate the magic. But, unfortunately, somewhere something got missed, becoming the reason for the movie’s failure. The worldwide theatrical rights were sold out for a whopping amount of Rs 21 crores, but shockingly, the film only got Rs 6.5+ crores share.
Most of the income came from two Telugu states and the film has become a disaster in the US, leaving the distributors in huge loss. According to the sources, Jaanu has put its distributors at a 70 percent loss, which is very hard to digest. So, our makers must understand that coming up with unique stories is more important than going with remakes.
Also, the main reason for Jaanu’s failure, despite the whole team working hard, is that the audience is connected to 96, emotionally. Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha lived in their roles and made everyone in the theatres cry like hell. Could it be possible for everyone? Though it is, we have to remember that 'the first impression is the best impression' and no matter how hard you to try to impress people with the ‘second’ thing, it won’t always work out!
