Two Popular Vetarans Are In Consideration For Team India Head Coach
Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri is looking to exit after November's ICC T20 World Cup conclusion. As per the reports, besides Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar, and batting coach Vikram Rathour are all set to depart. Notably, Shastri's current contract is also ending post the World T20.
BCCI will very soon begin the exercise to fill the vacancy with another Coach. So it will be a complete overhaul of the Coaching team—former captains Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, considered to be the favorites for the Head Coach.
Dravid, however, is not so keen as the Head Coach position means being away from family for a long time. Virender Sehwag is ready to take place but doesn't wish to undergo the hiring process, including filing applications and appearing for interviews.
If BCCI wants to look beyond these two options, it will likely float an invite for interested candidates across the globe.
India may look to rope in Tom Moody, 2019 World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss, Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene.
But then, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is not keen on an outsider.
