Owaisi Requests KCR To Raise Funds For Mahankali Temple And Afzalgunj Mosque
Akbaruddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and the leader of the opposition in the Telangana Legislative meeting, met Chief Minister KCR and requested him to release funds for the renovation and expansion of the Mahankali temple, which hosts the Bonalu festival.
K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Sunday, instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to coordinate with the development of Simhavahini Mahankali temple at Lal Darwaza and Afzalgunj mosque at an allotted Rs 10 crores and Rs 3 crores for them, respectively.
A meeting was held here at Pragati Bhavan called upon by Akbaruddin Owaisi. Owaisi focused the government’s attention on the problems the temple is facing due to lack of amenities and reminded of the temple’s popularity among its devotees, especially during the Bonalu festival. He also said that the temple lacked adequate space and that’s why the temple campus could not be developed which in turn was causing many problems to the devotees.
"The temple should be developed at a cost of Rs 10 Crores. With the expansion of the temple, people in the vicinity may lose properties. Compensate them by providing 800 square yards of land at Fareed Market, which is under the GHMC. This will be useful to the devotees," Akbaruddin requested the CM.
Meanwhile, KCR response was positive and he was ready to release funds for the temple and mosque. He further directed the concerned officials for necessary actions.
