Kerala politician K M Mani passed away
Veteran Kerala politician K M Mani passed away on Tuesday due to age-related illness. He was chairman of Kerala Congress (M), an alliance partner of Congress-led UDF in Kerala, MLA for over 50 years and also served as a former Minister.
86-year-old Mani is active in politics until now. Mr Mani was admitted at the VPS Lakeshore hospital on Thursday for the treatment of chest infection.
He had suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for years and had frequently hospitalised for a chest infection.
He has been a legislator of Pala assembly constituency for 50 consecutive years, since 1965 and didn’t lose any election since 1967. His party is the second largest constituent of the UDF.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Shri KM Mani was a stalwart of Kerala politics. His impeccable electoral record indicated his deep connection with the citizens of the state. His rich contribution to the state will be remembered. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters RIP."
