BJP names Sehwag as a potential candidate to contest Lok Sabha elections from Harayana
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is reportedly considering the option of having former Indian cricketer Virendra Sehwag into the party and fielding him for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to a leader of the party, Sehwag's name was considered to defeat Congress’s Deepender Singh Hooda, who has represented the seat three times. As per the sources, a senior leader has been appointed who is trying to convince Sehwag to join BJP.
A senior party leader said, “Party has already decided on Sehwag. It is now up to the cricketer to give his consent. The leader who has been assigned the job is quite active in NCR and Delhi politics".
Kirti Azad is the only cricketer in Lok Sabha currently. Now it is on to Sehwag and time will tell whether he decides to join BJP.
