BJP Ends LK Advani’s Lok Sabha Career, Chooses Amit Shah as his Political Heir
Veteran BJP leader LK Advani was made out of the electoral contest by the BJP as it fielded party president Amit Shah from Gandhinagar.
Advani had first contested from Gandhinagar in 1991 on the suggestion of Narendra Modi. Modi had even accompanied Advani when he filed his nomination papers.
Now, BJP made Amit Shah replace Advani as the party felt Amit Shah would boost the morale of the workers. According to the political sources, Advani didn’t himself declare his retirement but BJP has been made him retire for Amit Shah.
Out of the total 26 Lok Sabha seats, only one name declared is Amit Shah. On the other side, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest from UP’s Varanasi and not from Vadodara.
BJP said that a senior leader from the RSS had visited Advani at his residence and informed him that the party would not be asking him to contest polls, citing the age (91-year-old) as reason officially.
