Telugu Director Rejects Big Deal!
OTT platforms are making huge money in the lockdown. This is a wonderful chance for them to get as much money from the filmmakers. More than two months have passed and the lockdown is extended yet again. There is no clarity on when the completed movies will be released and when new films will get to start the shoots.
In this situation, some of the makers are selling their films to OTT platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Sunnxt. Recently, the film ‘Penguin’ makers announced that they sold out their film to Amazon and then Jyothika’s film ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ is also getting released soon on OTT.
Now, a popular OTT platform approached Sukumar to sell their film ‘Uppena’. They offered Rs 14 crore for this film. However, Sukumar Writings and Mythri Movie Makers, who are producers of this film, rejected the project outright. Uppena was made with Rs 18 crore and selling it for less than that amount proves the makers have no confidence in them. And also it will be a great loss for the whole movie team.
Being the debut film of Panja Vaishnav Tej as a hero, selling this film to OTT platform will show a negative impact on him. So, people are praising producers for rejecting the offer. The film had to be released in April 2020, but due to the lockdown, it got postponed. Sukumar’s associate Buchi Babu is the director of the film.
