Puri Jagannadh’s Musings: PAELLA – A Spanish Dish

He is all set to start a podcast of his own, which is titled as Puri Musings, covering topics like love, motherhood, humanity, and social media. Puri Musings can be heard on many music streaming platforms, the director who is known for philosophical dialogues in his movies have become the first director in Tollywood to have a podcast of his own.
Today’s Episode is PAELLA. In the audio of 4.19 min, he summarized that, his one of the favorite dishes is Paella. It is a Spanish dish and whenever he visits Spain, he will never miss to taste this. It is a Spain national dish and a foreign dish, which was first established in Valentia, the farmers who work in rice fields will have this dish in their lunch.
Paella is ancient dish and prepared by rice, meat, fish, vegetables and etc. Saffron adds additional flavor to the dish along with the color. The meaning of Paella is Frying pan, which is very thin and usually the dish is prepared in this pan. Bomba is the special rice and the main ingredient for the dish. Some of the main ingredients such as Olive oil, Saffron, Red and green peas, tomatoes are used in the dish.
There are five varieties of Dishes such as
- Paella Valenciana: Besides rice, this has chicken and pork. Many natives include rabbit, but many restaurants do not serve it, as they know that many tourists are not familiar with rabbit.
- Paella de Marisco: This is a seafood paella that does not contain meat, it usually has prawns, mussels,clams, calamares, and other seafood items.
- Paella Mixta: This is a mixture of the paella Valenciana and paella de marisco, which contains both meat, chicken and seafood.
- Paella Vegetariana: This contains a variety of vegetables, it does not include any meat or seafood.
- Paella Negra: This variety is cooked with squid ink and therefore, this is black in colour. It has a peculiar taste that natives love and served a pan for a person only, so if you’re feeling adventurous, go for it!
