Kamal Haasan’s Open Letter To PM Modi
The sudden lockdown of the country, though essential, has put many people in trouble. There are many daily wage workers like fishermen, farmers, laborers, etc who are struggling now to meet their daily needs. As the home-quarantine continues for more weeks or months, it is really important for the government to take care of them by providing financial aid to their families.
Though everyone knows this, only our hero cum politician Kamal Haasan dared to write an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He appreciated the hard work of the government and the health care workers who are working at the risk for the people. And then he said that over 90 percent of people in India are informal workforce which means construction workers, agriculture, manual laborers, fishermen, MSME workers and so on.
He requested the government to think of these unsung heroes who work hard to power our economy and build our nation. “Economic experts have suggested a slew of measures including tax breaks, deferred credits, and grants. These measures would benefit industrialists and employees. But the task force should ensure that there is no drop in the wages of daily workers,” Kamal Haasan said.
He said that human lives are in danger and we should take all the required steps to save them. He urged the government to take the steps fast to save millions of daily workers who are in dire need of essentials. On the film front, Kamal Haasan is currently working on Indian 2. However, the shoot got postponed due to the mishap where a few technicians died.
