Muslims Worried about Kashi Vishwanath Project

In the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project, the administrators demolished the chabootra at gate number 4 of the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi Mosque Complex, which is a property of Sunni Central Waqf Board.

As the work of demolition started, the news spread like a wildfire and the angry Mob was collectively resisting the work. The 17th-century mosque is under the caretaker Islahi for last 30 years. The work was halted, and the platform was built again by the district administration. As all the work was done in dark the people had to wait to see the platform till the dawn.

Where there was resistance there was a worry on the side of Muslims, that the fate of this mosque and Babri Masjid will be the same, the masjid was demolished in Ayodhya in 1992. There were chants like Ayodhya was just a glimpse, Kashi and Mathura now remain, and this increased the anxiety in Muslims.

However, DM of Varanasi stated that government was sure about the safety of the mosque, and the team under ADG security had taken the look and hence no chance of compromise.
