India Near Eight Lakh Mark As It Records Highest Single Day Spike On Saturday
India has recorded its biggest single-day spike of 26,506 new coronavirus cases in a day, which takes its total to 794,842, nearing the eight-lakh mark.
According to the Union Health Ministry’s data, there are now 2,76,685 active cases in the country, while 4,95,512 patients have been cured or discharged, and one has migrated.
Meanwhile, states like Uttar Pradesh have imposed a lockdown in the state from 10 pm today to 5 am on Monday which barre all markets, including food grain markets and other establishments, to remain closed and the supply of essentials will be ensured through doorstep delivery.
The previous week, India’s tally of confirmed coronavirus cases surpassed the total number of cases in Russia putting India at third behind US and Brazil in the highest coronavirus cases in the world.
In a jail of Maharashtra, 596 inmates and 167 jail staff have tested positive for COVID-19. Highest 219 inmates and 57 jail staff have contracted the infection in Nagpur Central Prison: State Prison Department.
