CJI sexual harassment case - CBI, IB, Police summoned to the supreme court
A lawyer filed an affidavit claiming that there was a conspiracy behind framing Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in a sexual harassment case. Soon after that Supreme Court on Wednesday has summoned chiefs of the CBI, Intelligence Bureau, and Delhi Police.
The lawyer named Mr. Bains, in his affidavit filed on April 22, said he was approached by a man who offered him up to Rs. 1.5 crore bribe to file the false case against Ranjan Gogoi.
The Bench also ordered the Delhi Police to provide full protection to lawyer Utsav Singh Bains so that no one approaches him to either influence or threaten him and the evidence he has with him of the conspiracy is kept safe.
The court said that the allegations need to be probed at all costs as it is a matter of grave concern and people might lose faith from the system if it comes out to be true.
